Selected Works Project Forgotten Harvest Forgotten Harvest is a non-profit with humble roots; beginning its life with one woman, Dr. Nancy Fishman. She rescued unused food from restaurants, her friend’s houses, and catering companies; delivering them to people who needed it. &nbsp;&nbsp; Today, Forgotten Harvest is far bigger and has a dire need for a refresh that matches the way they see themselves now. Forgotten Harvest maintains a tone that pays homage to its roots, treating everyone respectfully, kindly, and professionally. Forgotten Harvest envisions communities that work together; to end hunger and increase individual, neighborhood, economic, and environmental health. Selected Works Project Distill’d Detroit Detroit has always been a city of liquor legacy; once having some of the strictest alcohol sale laws in the country even since the territory’s founding. An estimated 75% of the U.S.’s liquor flowed through Detroit during prohibition, up and down the Dixie Highway, known as the “Avenue De Booze.” Just after the abolition of prohibition, a rivalry emerged- between two Detroit distilleries, Arrow Liquors, and Mohawk Liquors; each ingraining themselves in Detroit’s Liquor Legacy through fine product. In the early 2000s inspired by the craft beer movement in Detroit, a few hardy small-batch distilleries began popping up; Corktown’s Two James(est 2013), Eastern Market’s Detroit City Distillery(est 2014, and Ferndale’s Valentine Vodka(est 2013), in particular. Distill’d is a new kid on the block, taking from local inspiration, and creating a new legacy Distill’d’s hybrid event invites participants to tune in for appearances by How to Drink, Anders Erickson, and Cocktail Chemistry.&nbsp;Participants are encouraged to participate in our very own Tincture Lab[infused spirits], as well as our Mixology School: A 12 Hour-2 Day-Crash Course on the basics of bartending, no experience required. Selected Works Project Designer as Craftsperson I have always been told [by my professors, and anyone of authority] that “to design is to create for others, but to create art is to create for oneself.” Upon exploring other practices, like quilting, and printing by hand; I have found that notion to be untrue. Pulling inspiration from the various roles of designers in Ruben Pater’s CAPS LOCK, the role of The Designer as Craftsperson functions as a common, shared role between the designer and fine artist. To accompany this new role are 4 Craft facets that help Designers with little craft knowledge navigate this new role. They are Touch &amp; Sight, Research &amp; Meaning, Restraint/Not, and Process &amp; Execution. Following the chapter structure of CAPS LOCK, I created a publication to be repeated 3 times, each channeling a Craft facet. Personal Details are here. Selected Works Project ADAC Automotive ADAC Automotive is an automotive manufacturer and innovator in the field of future vehicle access technology. As a tier one supplier, ADAC primarily provides door handles and other access technology to Detroit’s Big 3, and other automotive companies. Opening doors is about more than just products. The growth of ADAC allows them to open doors and change lives for their customers, employees, and communities. My task was to transform ADAC promises, essences, and goals into a dynamic, yet structured animation to be displayed on TV screens around the office manufacturing campus. After constructing the horizontal animation, ADAC requested a vertical version to accompany it for use with smaller display sizes. Selected Works Project Spoken Word There’s something about the mundane-mediocre, the ins and outs of everyday life that makes O’Hara’s writings different. From coke drinking to cheeseburger eating, to swaying between each other in the warm, New York, 4 o’clock light- it continues to encapsulate me. In spring 2022, I transformed this forgotten project, collecting, absorbing, and designing a visual storytelling experience to express the life, travels, and lovers of Frank O’Hara. Sharing a meal, let alone a bite of food- or a sip of heavily processed liquid- compounds that feeling. Selected Works Project &nbsp;Craft/Craftsman Existing as a rejection of the industrialized, maximalist Victorian style, the Craftsman homes of the 1910s &amp; teens emphasized locally sourced, handcrafted materials, and objects- intending to create a livable craft object.&nbsp; When the style was popular, and as it declined, manufacturers of Kit Homes, [Sears Roebuck &amp; The Aladdin Company] rushed in; stealing features of the livable Craft objects[Craftsman homes] to implement within their designs. Many Craftsman homes are lost to time, but their features can still be seen in the abundance of remaining Kit Homes across the United States.
